April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started the guitar and piano lessons in seventh grade. This sparked her interest. April Lockhart composed her first track"Different" at 12 years old. The year she turned 14 was when she was devoted for a long period of time to making song lyrics and working on her music. After that, she started taking trips to write with her father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for those of her peers who struggled with peer pressure, disabilities or suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing following as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. Her birth was without a left hand, and it's an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her disability. However, it doesn't insist on her disability. What is the message? This is the message that we all share many identities, we're way more diverse than we think that we're. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville at home, claims that I do not want my physical appearance to define me. I am greater than the physical person I am. But it does not affect my day-to-day life. I still do all the things I normally would and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. It's also part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay striving to be self-accepting. She admits that she has gone through phases of insecurity with her body, and also feeling uncomfortable wearing some clothing types which exposed her arms. She can wear whatever she wants, and she happily shares pictures of her dressed in her favorite outfits. To her, self-love was always a lengthy process. However, that is typical for people who has insecurities.
