Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top acclaimed actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters but as fragile. Her father was a celebrated writer, however Linney was raised as a single child by her single-mother who was a nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father Linney discovered a love for the theatre. She eventually studied acting initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. In just two short years after graduation she began her Broadway-based career. Following that, she made her debut on TV and film. Since then she has appeared in a variety of films, television productions as well as stage productions. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her career. In spite of the array of awards acting has been her passion first and foremost. She is still appearing on screen and on stage.
